Tampa Flooding Guide
General information about indoor and storm related flooding in the Tampa area.

What Tampa property owners should know
Tampa properties can face both indoor plumbing floods and storm related water intrusion. During severe weather, follow official safety instructions and avoid contaminated or electrically hazardous water.
Two different Tampa flood questions
Is this a public flood emergency? Follow local evacuation and travel instructions. The City of Tampa says evacuation zones and flood zones are different; check both before a storm. Do not drive or wade through flooded streets. City of Tampa flooding guidance.
Is water already inside the property? Identify the source only from a safe location. Photograph water levels and damage before moving items, notify the insurer or property manager as appropriate, and keep receipts. Floodwater can contain sewage and other contaminants, so keep children and pets away from affected areas.
If the water source is a backed-up drain or toilet, use the sewage-backup safety guide instead of treating it as a routine clean-water leak.
When to call for professional help
Significant standing water, contaminated water, hidden moisture, damaged drywall or flooring, or water near electrical systems can require professional assessment. Safety should come before cleanup.
